A renewed commitment

I must apologize first for taking so long to add additional entries to our blog. Time must goes by so fast and before you know it it has been over a month and I haven't added anything new to our family's blog. We are recommitted again to be better at keeping up on this.

Well, the Petersons are doing well. We have been having a great summer filled with a lot of fun, busy activities. Noah turned 1 on July 24th and we had a party with many friends and family that came over. The party was also to celebrate our nephew Reece's birthday as well. He turned 3 on the 25th of July. The party was "Farm Themed" and we even had a horse there with a buggy that took the kids and some adults for rides right out in front of our house. (We have to thank the Pattersons for that.) My wife was very artistic with the cake and it was made up as a farm complete with a barn and animals. It was a great party and there was plenty of treats and cake for everyone.

Noah started walking a few weeks ago, it is hard to believe that he is big enough to do this already. He is just trying to stay up with his older brother all of the time! Gavin and him play together well and Gavin really watches out for him!

Another great thing that happened this month is that Gavin decided to be potty trained. After a few months of him using the toilet for #1 only, he has decided to use it for both needs! This is great for Emily and I. We don't have to worry about diapers for him at all! In fact, we have been putting him to bed in underwear and he has stayed dry every night but one! We are both really happy for him. He had a dinosaur that Emily bought him back in March when he first started using the toilet and he was promised that if he used the bathroom every time, he could have that dinosaur, well he finally has the dinosaur and he couldn't be happier!

I also just need to add in her how much I love my wife and how thankful I am for all that she does for our family! Thank you Emily, I love you and your boys love you!

Crazy last couple of weeks

I guess I or we should apologize for taking so long to get another post in on this blog. It has been a very busy time for our family the last few weeks, but that is no excuse.
On June 8, my Grandma, Harriet Peterson passed away. She was 82 years old and lived a long and fulfilling life. Grandma was always with us at various activities. We have always been fortunate to live near her and see her often. She taught me many things that I will forever be thankful for. For over 20 years Grandma lived without my Grandpa who passed away in 1987. I know that it is a sweet reunion for my Grandma and Grandpa to be together again and forever. One of my sweetest memories was from a trip that Grandma took Chris and I to some national parks in Southern Utah and to The Grand Canyon. I will always remember that trip. Grandma I love you and will always cherish the many great times that we had together.

We had the opportunity to attend The Peterson Family Reunion at Downata Hot Springs in Downey, Idaho. We had a lot of fun seeing family and spending time with them. We really enjoy going to these each year and are very thankful for all of them in our lives. We have a great family with a rich history. I always look forward to seeing all of "The Petersons" each year!

I also would like to pay tribute to my cousin Susie Martineau. She passed away on June 29 after battling some complitcations due to a car accident. Susie was the youngest of six children and had been attending Utah State University at the time of her death. Susie's mom Vicki and my mom are sisters. One of my greatest memories of Susie was the great time that we had when we came to the Martinuea's home in Colorado and had a family reunion. I remember a great big water fight that took place and Susie was a great help in showing us were to hide and where the best place was to fill up our water balloons! I will miss you Susie say hello to my mom and sister for me.

Emily, the boys and I had the opportunity to spend a few days with a couple of my roomates from college and their families. We met the Oliversons and Johnsons in Idaho Falls and then proceeded to Yellowstone National Park and continued on to Cardwell, Montana where we stayed with Burdean's parents. We had a great time! It was a lot of fun to see each other again and to spend time together with our spouses and kids. It is fun to see what type of parents we are since we each have two kids. I need to thank Burdean's parents for their hospitality and for treating us like family while we were there. It was fun to see everyone again! We have to also thank Dave and Britta for letting our boys play at their house and for their daughter sharing everything with our kids. Gavin really enjoyed the slip and slide and keeps asking when he can go back and play with Kyra.
Burdean, Jeanette, T-roy and Jen, thanks for the great times! We really enjoy getting together with you guys and we are thankful for our friendships that we have. Hard to believe that it was about 10 years ago that we all lived at Sommerset in Rexburg!

I need to also have a part in here about my wonderful wife Emily. I love her so much and have really enjoyed the many adventures and travels that we have had together. Emily just celebrated her 26th birthday!!! Yes, I married young. I am a better person for marrying her. She is the greatest wife and mother to our two boys! I love you Emily and I know that the boys love you as well!! Thanks for everything that you do for our family!!!

Happy Mother's Day!!!

Happy Mother's Day to all of you mothers and soon to be mothers! I hope everyone had a very relaxing and joyous day. I had a wonderful day! We got to listen to my second set of parents report their mission in our old ward. It was the couple we house sat for, also my good friend Emily's parents. Like my mom said at dinner after church " I could have listened to them speak for the whole three hour block." They did such a good job. My younger sis Amanda and I made dinner for my side of the family after church. I have to say it was really good.
Cort and I took our kids out to the cemetary to see his mom's grave. This was the first time we took Noah.
I wanted to take pictures of the boys. We have pictures of Gavin when he was about Noah's age out there. The boys fell asleep in the car and we had to wake them up. You can tell who is a bear when their sleep is disturbed. Cort says Gavin takes after me and that I am always grouchy when someone has to wake me up.
On the other hand Noah lights up with his big cheesy grin every time a camara is in his face.
We have ended our day at my father inlaws house. We come over every Sunday night and just shoot the bull. I guess it is on to another week. I hope this one is better than last.

The Big Move!!!

Well for everyone who thinks I fell off the wagon. I am back! We have had a very crazy month of April and our blog pretty much was forgotten for awhile. For those who don't know we finally made the big move into our first house. We got the keys on April 1st, but since we were still house sitting till the 26th we couldn't completely move over. Living in two houses on opposite ends of the valley can be very advantageous, but also very hard. I never knew what stuff was in what house. My poor kids were so sick of being hauled around by the time we got everything moved and the old house cleaned. I think we quadrupled the amount of stuff from our first move. At least we made some money at our garage sale with stuff we have never used in four and a half years. We are loving our new house and will get some pictures of it when we get some of the piles of boxes put away. We haven't had a lot of time between work and other things. Cort's new office in Nampa is now finished and they moved in today. He is really excited to be close to our house. To bad I still have to drive all the way to my school which is on Warm Springs Ave. That is ok the school year is almost over and I will have a nice long break. We also get to attend our new chapel on Sunday. It sits less than 5 min from our house. We also have the elementary and middle schools that sit about 5 min away as well. We have even taken a walk to the playground at the elementary to play.
I just wanted to add how thankful I am for our friends and family that helped us to finish things at the house in Boise and move things to our home in Nampa. I especially want to thank my wife and kids for all of their patience and excitement for our new place! We are all really excited for our new house, new neighborhood, and new ward.

These our some of the last pics of our kids in the old house. We loved that house and will miss
it. We had some great times.
I love these pictures of Noah. His little sloth teeth. My baby is getting so big.
Noah just discovered his little bike. He loves to sit on it and just laugh.
This is my beautiful big boy. He is turning into such a cute guy(he always tells me he is not a boy just a guy) He doesn't think so, but he will always be my baby!

The Terrible Twos!!!!

So I am glad to see that our 2 year old is not the only one doing out of his nature naughty things. A couple of weeks ago on a thursday I was in our family room when I hadn't seen my 2 year old for awhile. I went into the kitchen and he had colored on the cabinets with crayon. That was bad enough, but I have this spray bottle with red kool-aid in it for primary that I spray in the kids mouth. Well that made it all over the cabinets as well. It was half full and he emptied it out. I was mad but I was really trying to keep my cool. So we cleaned it up and I told him to go in his room and play. Well about 30 minutes later I heard something in the kitchen and he was back at it again. This time he got into the office which doesn't have a door handle, and the only way to get in is with a stick like object, we always use a orange peeler. Any who he found the markers and was coloring all over the refigerator. It wouldn't have been as bad but he was licking his hands and smearing it all over the fridge. This time I lost it and some choice words that I later repented for came out. I was ready to sell him! So I thought I would feed him lunch and then I could put him down for his nap. I made him a sandwich and gave him some cheez it crackers. I should have known better, but I left him in there so I could feed the baby. Well I went back after about 15 minutes and he dumped half of a box of crackers on the floor and stomped them into tiny pieces while tearing things off the fridge. I absolutely lost all sanity at that point. All I could do was put him to bed and hope that he didn't wake up until his dad came home. That was the end of that day. I really thought I could give him away. I didn't even tell Cort because I didn't think he would believe me. The next day after work Cort and I were talking and we heard something in the kitchen. When we walked in there I saw baking soda all over the floor and right in front of the fridge was my lovely 2 year old standing in a mix of soda and crushed eggs(at least 1/2 a dozen). I couldn't even say anything I made his dad take care of it. This is a picture of Gavin after we sat him in time out and couldn't say anything else to him. But like Cort and I always say " It's a good thing he is so cute"

Here are some cute pictures of the boys. Noah is getting so big and starting to sit and crawl. He has four teeth coming in. His two bottom and the two next to his front. He is so busy and becoming such a little boy.
