Merry almost Christmas Eve

Well since it has been almost a month  I thought I would tell everyone Merry Christmas!  I love this time of year and it has flown by quickly. It didn't help that we lost a week of decorating and FALALALALAing  to go on vacation to Disneyland. I guess I can't complain we had a blast!!! I will post later about that. The funniest thing lately has been listening to Noah get so excited to see christmas decorations. He just started to say "Santa" everytime he gets excited. I love it!!

I have to give kudos to both teams who played in the Poinsettia Bowl tonight. Even though our beloved Broncos did not win they played well. They had a great season!  Good job to the TCU horned frogs they played well too.(obviously)

Happy Thanksgiving!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE! At this time of year we as a family have so many things to be thankful for. First and for most for our family and friends. We are very thankful for our the many family members and friends that we are lucky to share our lives with. We are also thankful for the gospel and for the Saviour who created all of this amazing world that we are a part of. We are thankful for all of our blessings this past year! I really enjoy Thanksgiving and the opportunity to gather with friends and family and reflect back on the blessings of the past year. Plus, the food is a great part of it as well!!
I as a husband and father am especially thankful for my family who was watched over in a car accident back in August. I know that they were protected. I love them more than anything. Thank you Emily, Gavin and Noah for being a part of my life. I love you guys!

Once again, have a Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Why Me?

Ok I have been holding this in for a long time. Most everyone knows that I have wanted a little girl for a long time. Don't get me wrong I LOVE my little boys but, there is this small part of me that is yearning for a daughter. I think it is all coming forth because we have had quite a few friends and family that have had girls lately. I am so extremely excited for all of them. But every time I see hair bows, tights, little girl shoes, and dresses, and anything girlie I want to buy buy buy! Cort always gives me that look like someday. He even told me whenever I am ready he is. The sad thing is I am not ready to be pregnant again. I am finally at a point where Noah is self- sufficient. I love it!! Well I guess my vent is over, but I hope someday we welcome  a little girl into our home sooner than later.

RIP- Our most loved accord

I guess this is an appropriate title for Halloween. The sad thing is it is true. Cort lost his baby on August 26th, 2008. I was taking my cousins baby to my aunt and uncles house. I was stopped in the lane to turn left, because there was no turn lane. I was then plowed into by a truck going between 40-50 mph. It threw my car 20 ft forward. The blessing was that I was not hurt nor were all three of the boys in the back seat. My kids did not even cry. They detoured traffic and all the emergency crews came. The emt told me we were very lucky, because they have pulled people out of less serious accidents. The policeman was showing Cort that our Accord did exactly what it was built to do in an accident. Besides being a little sore my kids and I are completely fine. Someone was definitely looking after us that day.

This last wednesday night Cort, Gavin and I got to go to one of the most exciting Boise State games. My brother Doug was nominated by his speech therapist to go to a Bronco game. He was given 5 tickets in special seating and given fifty dollars in consessions. They even gave the adults sideline passes. After the game the players came to sign posters they gave us it was so fun!! There were only about 15 people in this section. It was fun to go with my mom and Doug they have never been to a game before and loved it

Doug and Gavin on the sidelines
Gavin's favorite part the inflatable helmet to welcome the team

Our cool shots from the sidelines
Gavin and Cort got their picture with Ian Johnson

My big boy turned 3! I can't believe he is so big I feel like I just got married.
Gavin had fun celebrating his birthday with friends and family
These are the three birthday boys

Noah is enjoying his 3rd sucker

Birthday Boy!

Waiting for the b-day cake! Looks Good!!!

After almost five years we finally decided to cut our wedding cake. I thought

we should chuck it. Cort and Gavin enjoyed a piece. It really was still moist I was suprised

Gavin was so excited to get this from his grandma at easter. He sits and shaves with Cort all the time.

A renewed commitment

I must apologize first for taking so long to add additional entries to our blog. Time must goes by so fast and before you know it it has been over a month and I haven't added anything new to our family's blog. We are recommitted again to be better at keeping up on this.

Well, the Petersons are doing well. We have been having a great summer filled with a lot of fun, busy activities. Noah turned 1 on July 24th and we had a party with many friends and family that came over. The party was also to celebrate our nephew Reece's birthday as well. He turned 3 on the 25th of July. The party was "Farm Themed" and we even had a horse there with a buggy that took the kids and some adults for rides right out in front of our house. (We have to thank the Pattersons for that.) My wife was very artistic with the cake and it was made up as a farm complete with a barn and animals. It was a great party and there was plenty of treats and cake for everyone.

Noah started walking a few weeks ago, it is hard to believe that he is big enough to do this already. He is just trying to stay up with his older brother all of the time! Gavin and him play together well and Gavin really watches out for him!

Another great thing that happened this month is that Gavin decided to be potty trained. After a few months of him using the toilet for #1 only, he has decided to use it for both needs! This is great for Emily and I. We don't have to worry about diapers for him at all! In fact, we have been putting him to bed in underwear and he has stayed dry every night but one! We are both really happy for him. He had a dinosaur that Emily bought him back in March when he first started using the toilet and he was promised that if he used the bathroom every time, he could have that dinosaur, well he finally has the dinosaur and he couldn't be happier!

I also just need to add in her how much I love my wife and how thankful I am for all that she does for our family! Thank you Emily, I love you and your boys love you!

Crazy last couple of weeks

I guess I or we should apologize for taking so long to get another post in on this blog. It has been a very busy time for our family the last few weeks, but that is no excuse.
On June 8, my Grandma, Harriet Peterson passed away. She was 82 years old and lived a long and fulfilling life. Grandma was always with us at various activities. We have always been fortunate to live near her and see her often. She taught me many things that I will forever be thankful for. For over 20 years Grandma lived without my Grandpa who passed away in 1987. I know that it is a sweet reunion for my Grandma and Grandpa to be together again and forever. One of my sweetest memories was from a trip that Grandma took Chris and I to some national parks in Southern Utah and to The Grand Canyon. I will always remember that trip. Grandma I love you and will always cherish the many great times that we had together.

We had the opportunity to attend The Peterson Family Reunion at Downata Hot Springs in Downey, Idaho. We had a lot of fun seeing family and spending time with them. We really enjoy going to these each year and are very thankful for all of them in our lives. We have a great family with a rich history. I always look forward to seeing all of "The Petersons" each year!

I also would like to pay tribute to my cousin Susie Martineau. She passed away on June 29 after battling some complitcations due to a car accident. Susie was the youngest of six children and had been attending Utah State University at the time of her death. Susie's mom Vicki and my mom are sisters. One of my greatest memories of Susie was the great time that we had when we came to the Martinuea's home in Colorado and had a family reunion. I remember a great big water fight that took place and Susie was a great help in showing us were to hide and where the best place was to fill up our water balloons! I will miss you Susie say hello to my mom and sister for me.

Emily, the boys and I had the opportunity to spend a few days with a couple of my roomates from college and their families. We met the Oliversons and Johnsons in Idaho Falls and then proceeded to Yellowstone National Park and continued on to Cardwell, Montana where we stayed with Burdean's parents. We had a great time! It was a lot of fun to see each other again and to spend time together with our spouses and kids. It is fun to see what type of parents we are since we each have two kids. I need to thank Burdean's parents for their hospitality and for treating us like family while we were there. It was fun to see everyone again! We have to also thank Dave and Britta for letting our boys play at their house and for their daughter sharing everything with our kids. Gavin really enjoyed the slip and slide and keeps asking when he can go back and play with Kyra.
Burdean, Jeanette, T-roy and Jen, thanks for the great times! We really enjoy getting together with you guys and we are thankful for our friendships that we have. Hard to believe that it was about 10 years ago that we all lived at Sommerset in Rexburg!

I need to also have a part in here about my wonderful wife Emily. I love her so much and have really enjoyed the many adventures and travels that we have had together. Emily just celebrated her 26th birthday!!! Yes, I married young. I am a better person for marrying her. She is the greatest wife and mother to our two boys! I love you Emily and I know that the boys love you as well!! Thanks for everything that you do for our family!!!

Happy Mother's Day!!!

Happy Mother's Day to all of you mothers and soon to be mothers! I hope everyone had a very relaxing and joyous day. I had a wonderful day! We got to listen to my second set of parents report their mission in our old ward. It was the couple we house sat for, also my good friend Emily's parents. Like my mom said at dinner after church " I could have listened to them speak for the whole three hour block." They did such a good job. My younger sis Amanda and I made dinner for my side of the family after church. I have to say it was really good.
Cort and I took our kids out to the cemetary to see his mom's grave. This was the first time we took Noah.
I wanted to take pictures of the boys. We have pictures of Gavin when he was about Noah's age out there. The boys fell asleep in the car and we had to wake them up. You can tell who is a bear when their sleep is disturbed. Cort says Gavin takes after me and that I am always grouchy when someone has to wake me up.
On the other hand Noah lights up with his big cheesy grin every time a camara is in his face.
We have ended our day at my father inlaws house. We come over every Sunday night and just shoot the bull. I guess it is on to another week. I hope this one is better than last.

The Big Move!!!

Well for everyone who thinks I fell off the wagon. I am back! We have had a very crazy month of April and our blog pretty much was forgotten for awhile. For those who don't know we finally made the big move into our first house. We got the keys on April 1st, but since we were still house sitting till the 26th we couldn't completely move over. Living in two houses on opposite ends of the valley can be very advantageous, but also very hard. I never knew what stuff was in what house. My poor kids were so sick of being hauled around by the time we got everything moved and the old house cleaned. I think we quadrupled the amount of stuff from our first move. At least we made some money at our garage sale with stuff we have never used in four and a half years. We are loving our new house and will get some pictures of it when we get some of the piles of boxes put away. We haven't had a lot of time between work and other things. Cort's new office in Nampa is now finished and they moved in today. He is really excited to be close to our house. To bad I still have to drive all the way to my school which is on Warm Springs Ave. That is ok the school year is almost over and I will have a nice long break. We also get to attend our new chapel on Sunday. It sits less than 5 min from our house. We also have the elementary and middle schools that sit about 5 min away as well. We have even taken a walk to the playground at the elementary to play.
I just wanted to add how thankful I am for our friends and family that helped us to finish things at the house in Boise and move things to our home in Nampa. I especially want to thank my wife and kids for all of their patience and excitement for our new place! We are all really excited for our new house, new neighborhood, and new ward.

These our some of the last pics of our kids in the old house. We loved that house and will miss
it. We had some great times.
I love these pictures of Noah. His little sloth teeth. My baby is getting so big.
Noah just discovered his little bike. He loves to sit on it and just laugh.
This is my beautiful big boy. He is turning into such a cute guy(he always tells me he is not a boy just a guy) He doesn't think so, but he will always be my baby!

The Terrible Twos!!!!

So I am glad to see that our 2 year old is not the only one doing out of his nature naughty things. A couple of weeks ago on a thursday I was in our family room when I hadn't seen my 2 year old for awhile. I went into the kitchen and he had colored on the cabinets with crayon. That was bad enough, but I have this spray bottle with red kool-aid in it for primary that I spray in the kids mouth. Well that made it all over the cabinets as well. It was half full and he emptied it out. I was mad but I was really trying to keep my cool. So we cleaned it up and I told him to go in his room and play. Well about 30 minutes later I heard something in the kitchen and he was back at it again. This time he got into the office which doesn't have a door handle, and the only way to get in is with a stick like object, we always use a orange peeler. Any who he found the markers and was coloring all over the refigerator. It wouldn't have been as bad but he was licking his hands and smearing it all over the fridge. This time I lost it and some choice words that I later repented for came out. I was ready to sell him! So I thought I would feed him lunch and then I could put him down for his nap. I made him a sandwich and gave him some cheez it crackers. I should have known better, but I left him in there so I could feed the baby. Well I went back after about 15 minutes and he dumped half of a box of crackers on the floor and stomped them into tiny pieces while tearing things off the fridge. I absolutely lost all sanity at that point. All I could do was put him to bed and hope that he didn't wake up until his dad came home. That was the end of that day. I really thought I could give him away. I didn't even tell Cort because I didn't think he would believe me. The next day after work Cort and I were talking and we heard something in the kitchen. When we walked in there I saw baking soda all over the floor and right in front of the fridge was my lovely 2 year old standing in a mix of soda and crushed eggs(at least 1/2 a dozen). I couldn't even say anything I made his dad take care of it. This is a picture of Gavin after we sat him in time out and couldn't say anything else to him. But like Cort and I always say " It's a good thing he is so cute"

Here are some cute pictures of the boys. Noah is getting so big and starting to sit and crawl. He has four teeth coming in. His two bottom and the two next to his front. He is so busy and becoming such a little boy.

The Peterson's are alive!!

Well it is a new month and I told Cort he has been fired from updating our blog. He has been a little slow when it comes to keeping it updated. So I guess now we will see if I end up eating my words. I enlisted my brother in-law and sister in-law to help me jazz up our blog since they are computer gurus.(Love ya Chris and Tammy!!)
If we can figure everything out and they can educate me about the computer we just might have a pretty neat blog. I have no desire to scrapbook so this is my way of scrapbooking with the click of the mouse.

Besides all this computer stuff my family has been pretty busy. Cort is getting busier with work and is going to be taking some tests next week that if he passes we can all breathe a little bit easier. We really wanted to take the boys to McCall this weekend for the winter carnival, but we have had more snow in the valley this year than we have had for a longtime and I didn't want to risk our lives on the roads. Instead we took them out one night this week while it was snowing and Cort pulled them around in their sled.

Our Boys are getting so big I can't believe in just two months how much bigger they are. Gavin talks all the time I never get a word in edgewise. He got a Diego bike for christmas and rode it all over the house. He made his own track even. I am completely amazed to see a two year old riding this little bike. I finally let him ride it to my parents a couple of weeks ago and my dad couldn't beleive it! He looks like he is about five. The only draw back is the bike stays in the garage now that it has been outside and since we have had snow on the ground for most of that time he hasn't been able to ride except in the garage occasionally.

Noah is getting so big! He loves to sit up and talk to all of us. He has the cutest smile and likes to flash it when he can. I couldn't have asked for a better baby. He just turned six months on the 24th I can't belive it. He weighs 16lbs. 8oz. and is 27in. He is really starting to fill out. Cort and I always say if we ever have a little girl she will probably be a big chunk like I was, because our boys definitely take after their dad with hardly anything on their bones for the first six months.
This is basically what we have been up to for the last month and a half.
